Carolina
Name:
Carolina Lameiras, 2008 Chair
Discipline:
Structural Engineer
Company/Role(s):
Working as a design engineer at Adams Kara Taylor. One of the perks of being a structural engineer is that you tend to work on a number of projects at the same time. I have been able to help scheme a structural design at stage C, whilst working as a project engineer for another; visiting site and attending progress meetings, clients presentations and carrying out detailed structural design for construction.
Qualifications:
Graduated 2004 from Kingston University with a BEng in Civil Engineering. I spent my 2nd year of study at San Francisco State University (California) as part of an exchange programme.
Why I am involved with G4C:
I saw a great opportunity to be part of a new movement in the industry. Through G4C, I am able to meet like-minded young professionals to gain a better understanding of other trades, to create new ideas and to start building up contacts. I am also keen to help give the construction industry a facelift! It is such an exciting and dynamic environment and yet we have been misunderstood. With the help of G4C, I want to be able to spread the words and to attract new bloods into the build environment.
Interests:
Travel, architecture, cooking, Japanese Anime, and still not enjoying the gym.
Personal Motto:
No point in making an impression if it is not going to last.

Phil Brown
Name:
Phil Brown, 2008 Vice Chair
Company/Role(s):
Senior Electrical Engineer, Faber Maunsell
Qualifications:
After graduating in 2004 from Imperial College with a MEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering I joined Faber Maunsell and have been working for them ever since. My job essentially involves designing all of the electrical systems in a building - this includes: getting the cables in from the street; back up / emergency generators; uninterruptible power supplies; distributing power around the building; designing the lighting. I have worked on some really interesting buildings and projects for some household-name clients.
Why I am involved in G4C:
I joined G4C to meet up with like minded individuals who are keen to challenge the industry, and work together to make it a better place for us all. I am also keen to encourage people into the industry, I fell in to the job so I know many people do not necessarily consider it as a career choice!

Chris Davies
Name:
Chris Davies
Company/Role(s):
Structural Engineer, BuroHappold
Qualifications:
I felt compelled to enter the construction industry to put to practice the skills and theory I'd acquired after studying Architectural Engineering at the University of Leeds. The company I joined was Buro Happold consulting engineers where I decided to specialise in structural engineering. I've genuinely enjoyed my experience so far and have recently witnessed the public opening of my first project, a new build Academy.
Why I am involved in G4C:
I became involved with G4C to work with fellow professionals in organising cross industry activities and events. I felt that the industry lacked a starting point for newcomers who wanted to keep broad perspective, through G4C I hope that we can provide this platform for the next generation.

Why I am involved in G4C:
I have been involved in G4C since early 2008. I have a genuine passion for the industry and would like to play a part in transforming it into one that focuses on providing efficient value led solutions for clients. I believe there has never been such an exciting time to join the industry. It provides opportunities beyond most other industries on a truly global scale. The industry will not be operating in the future as it is today, it will evolve and improve. Everyone who enters the industry has the prospect of being an important part of making the change. Being involved in G4C provides access to senior people within the industry who G4C members are able to influence with their ideas. It also provides a network of like-minded professionals that will support G4C members career development.
